Believe it or not, my next vehicle purchase is going to be a Can Am Spyder. Because my youngest child will be leaving high school soon, and then moving on with his own life, my wife and I will be able to manage with just one car. My original plan was to get rid of one of the cars and then buy a two-wheel bike but I have become intrigued by the Spyder. My only question is, would being a Spyder owner make any less of a biker?
Without a doubt I’ll still have my cool riding glasses, my leather jacket and gloves, and my girl riding on the back, but will that be enough? I am asking this because of the ‘weekend warriors’ out there who don’t really know too much about biking culture and who ride their racing bikes with their nylon jackets.
The reality is that these bikers are not thought of as ‘real bikers’ by any of the hardcore bikers that I know. I really don’t want to become a biker outcast because I had purchased a Spyder. If this were to happen, then I would need to make a spiteful statement and buy a Lone Wolf patch to signal my independence.
